Weyermann Barke heirloom Pilsner malt is perfect for creating authentic lager style beers. Made from the finest German two-row historical summer brewing barley, the long-loved characteristic malt aroma of Barke is the perfect base for intensely flavorful bright lager beers. This results in an full body and pronounced malt aromas with underlying toffee notes. Expect a pleasant, soft mouthfeel. What also sets Barke Pilsner malt apart is its excellent process characteristics in the brew-house and during filtration, coupled with increased extract efficiency. Suitable for Pilsners, Bavarian Helles, Lagers of various styles, Dark Beers, Schwarzbier, Festbier, Bock Beer, Octoberfest styles, Belgian Dubbels, Kellerbier, Stouts, Munich Dunkels and Kellerbier.

During WW2 the Potsdam portion of Weyermann was destroyed by bombs and the subsequent Russian occupation. All their East German business was lost as well as their equipment. All the Weyermann family survived the war except one brother lost on the Eastern Front.
